Aboodi Shabi – ICF regional workshop review

A new initiative to bring high-quality coaching workshops to the North of England has been so successful its organisers have begun planning next year’s series!  (See details of our Feb 15th MasterClass on Team Coaching with AoEC Founder and president of the EMCC, John Leary –Joyce.)  The series has been devised and hosted by executive coaches and mentors, LeaderShape, together with the International Coach Federation (ICF.)  The first one-day seminar welcomed individual practitioners as well as corporate attendees, including from the telecoms and aerospace industries, to the renowned Work-Based Learning centre, the University of Chester.

One of the UK’s most senior coaches, Newfield Networks’ Aboodi Shabi, delivered the specialist session “The Art of Masterful Coaching – beyond a set of techniques,” to offer new perspectives to its audience.

Said LeaderShape Director, Danielle Grant: “This hands-on, experiential workshop has brought the highest level of development to senior coaches in our area.  We’ve been delighted by feedback saying this event will be “difficult to beat!”  We will try, however, as the ethos behind the programme is our belief that good intentions regarding work-based learning are often undermined by a lack of training or proper framework.  To this end, the workshop provided accreditation worth 8 CCEUs which can contribute to a prestigious University qualification, including the PGC in Coach-Mentoring and Facilitation in Organisations.  We are launching this executive level course with Chester University in 2012, to offer practitioners the greatest possible support for success.”

Aboodi Shabi, Newfield Network, 1 day coaching workshopAboodi Shabi, a pioneer and leader in the UK and European Coaching community and founding co-President of the UK ICF, said: It’s invaluable for us to be able to offer access to quality networking and training sessions in the regions to maintain the best outputs in the workplace and individual practice. Those who attend will be enhancing their skills and their ability to cascade them to others.”

CASE STUDY

The masterclass in ontological coaching examined ways to develop deep listening to allow the authentic human being to speak. Focusing practically on the world of work, the day offered both coaching and reflective exercises. Presentations and interactive study explored a framework to understand beyond presenting goals, then to move beyond coaching techniques to discover the true expression of the client.
